Angel Pitch Deconstruction
July 11 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Pitching to Angels is one of the ways that startups engage with the Angel Investor Dating process. How you present, what you present, who presents all impacts how your startup makes progress (or not). Companies are invited to come with a 1-minuted (Elevator Pitch) pitch prepared.

The audience will vote and from those presenting, 6 companies will be selected to present a 3-minute pitch. The panel of Seattle Angel Alumni will then deconstruct what they heard and how it impacts their decision-making process for further engagement for Angel Investment. The Angel Panel includes Javier Soto, David Grampa and Elaine Werffeli, all Alumni of the Seattle Angel Conference and members of the Seattle Angel Fund.

AoA Workshop – Equity Term Sheets
July 12 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

This interactive session will provide angel investors and entrepreneurs with explanations and examples of the most important elements of a term sheet for an early stage equity financing, why these terms are included and how they are used, and whether the term sheet is fair and balanced.

The session will be led by Greg Gottesman, co-founder and Managing Director of Pioneer Square Labs, a Seattle-based studio that creates and launches technology startups. He serves as a Venture Partner of Madrona Venture Group, where he formerly was a Managing Director for 17 years. Greg is the founder, former CEO and current board member of Rover.com, the world’s largest pet sitting marketplace, and co-founder of Spare5, where he now serves on the board.

Small Business Expo Seattle
July 13 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Small Business Expo is the America’s BIGGEST business trade show, conference & networking event that incorporates networking opportunities and informational conferences that can assist business owners and professionals to develop and grow their businesses.

This expo is free to attend. Each Expo will feature an Exhibitor Hall which will contain over one hundred business exhibitors ready and waiting to tell you about their business’ product or service. Upon your arrival, you will be given a colored dot (GET DOTTED) which will signify which industry you are involved in, making it easier for you to identify those working in the same industry as you and making networking that much easier.

Free workshops and main stage presentations with keynote speakers held during the Expo which will be based on a variety of hot topics – choose to attend as many of these as you’d like and you are bound to take away some useful knowledge that will benefit the overall development of your business.

Women@Work: A Different Future for Tech
July 13 @ 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Please join Redfin for an inspiring afternoon with women technology leaders who are creating change in an industry grappling with how to increase diversity and inclusion. Seattle is developing into a major tech hub, with a business culture that in some ways resembles Silicon Valley but also stands apart. This growth presents powerful opportunities for women to lead, from starting their own companies to designing new products. Women@Work will offer concrete strategies for building a career, navigating corporate cultures, and becoming an entrepreneur. How Startup Valuation Works

Angel 101 – An introduction to Angel Investing
July 18 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Milt Sigelmann will give an overview of the Angel Investing process. He is an alumnus of the Seattle Angel Conference and a member of the Seattle Angel Fund. Milt will go over the process of how Angel Investing can help startups go faster and how it can also be profitable as an investment for Angel Investors.

How can startups make the most of an Angel Investment? Who exactly is allowed to be Angel Investors by Federal Law?
What are the best ways to invest? What are the things that Angel Investors should look for in startups? Are all startups Angel Investable? These are just some of the questions that will be addressed, so come ready with your Angel Investing questions.

Alliance of Angels Pitch Clinic @ Startup Hall

The Alliance of Angels Pitch Clinic is an educational event tailored specifically to entrepreneurs on how to effectively pitch a startup business plan to angel investors. Come learn the best practices and what you should know when pitching your startup to an angel, and meet some prominent angels along the way.

The Alliance of Angels is the largest and most active angel group in the Pacific Northwest. Each year, the group invests $10M+ into 20+ companies. Their network of 140+ active angel investors is further augmented by a $6.6M seed fund. If you’re an aspiring founder or entrepreneur, learning how to pitch to angels is an invaluable skill to have.

Women’s Startup Hackathon
July 21 – July 23

Women are an important part of diversity in tech. That’s why this July, extraSlice is taking the lead in promoting women’s’ opportunities in tech fields by hosting a 3-Day Hackathon for women and girls. We’ll hear 60-second pitches from the first 30 participants. We’ll take the top 10 ideas, and divide the group into 10 teams to execute each idea.

Participants will use technology to create a solution to a common problem from any industry, from shopping and retail, parking, use in volunteer programs, and more. In the spirit of promoting female participation, each of the 10 teams will be led by a woman. However, we welcome and encourage men and boys to participate as well! Diversity is a collaborative exercise!

We will bring in coaches and advisors before and during the event to help you develop your startup ideas.

AoA Workshop – How to be an Effective Angel Board Director
July 25 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Come for an interactive session on how entrepreneurs can build and maximize value from their board of directors. Dan Rosen and Susan Schreter will discuss best practices for selecting board members, conducting board meetings, suitable approaches for executive coaching & managing succession, board director compensation, as well as the importance of financial controls, capital staging and guiding the company towards a successful exit.”
